- Internal MedicineJimmy Bell, FNP Hi, my name is Jimmy Bell. I am a hometown boy who grew up between Salem and St. James, MO. Growing up, I loved to hunt and fish, ride horses and enjoyed floating the beautiful Current River. I graduated from St. James high school and shortly thereafter, went into the United States Air Force. During my entire 22-year career, I worked in many areas of the medical field. I started out as a Paramedic and was honored to be a member of President Reagan's ranch medical team for two years. I then went on to obtain a degree in physical therapy, where I worked for six years. Next, I completed a bachelor's degree in nursing where I worked for ten years, which including serving in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. There I was part of a team that set up a 250-bed hospital in Seeb, Oman and was there for six months during the war. Shortly after returning home, I worked on my master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner. I continued in that role until I retired as a Captain in 2005. I returned home and started with Mercy Health System in 2005 in Internal Medicine. In 2008, I transferred my practice to Phelps Health in Rolla, MO and continued there until my recent moved to SMDH. I am extremely honored that over 900 patient's transferred care to us here at SMDH. My team is very excited to serve this community and bring amazing care to SMDH and to do our part to make this the premier health care system in this area.

- MammographySalem Memorial District Hospital is pleased to announce, we are now offering full-time and in-house mammography services. With the addition of this new service we will be working to create a Breast Care Program for our hospital district. In the past, monthly mammography services have been provided by Missouri Baptist Medical Center Mobile Mammography Van. Because of limited scheduling it has often been difficult to schedule patients and especially those needing more urgent diagnostic imaging. It has been a goal of SMDH to bring mammography services into the hospital but because of limited funds for capital purchases, this has been delayed.
