      Located in Richmond, Va., Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is a more than 750-bed, health care system that comprises more than 200 specialty centers and programs, including cancer, cardiology, neurosurgery and transplantation. Its medical services include geriatric medicine, infectious diseases, internal medicine, and allergy, immunology and rheumatology services. Additionally, the health system s emergency department features a 24-hour, Level-1 trauma center and comprises three treatment areas, including adult acute emergency, nonacute care, and child and adolescent emergency. The trauma center offers services that include care for cardiac, trauma, pediatric, burn injury, and gynecologic and obstetric emergencies. Virginia Commonwealth University Health System also offers specialized services, such as animal assisted therapy, children s mental health, telemedicine, sports medicine, neonatal medicine, and epidemiology and community health. It also offers several community and educational services that include injury prevention, women s health services, dietetic internship, forum for health care learning and excellence, and poison control and toxicology.
