General Info
First Preschool and Pre-K. It is a licensed, non-profit program, which offers high standards to the families of the city, centrally located in the Mesa Junction area. It will begin it's 34th year this fall and has been licensed since 2005. The preschool is part of the Colorado Shines quality rating program earning three stars out of four stars on Nov. 30, 2014. In the Colorado Shines Rating process, programs are evaluated on five different quality components. These components include: Learning Environment, Family Partnership, Training and Education, Adult-to-Child Ratio and Group Size, and Accreditation. Our Mission is to provide a quality education for our children, which includes the six domains of child development; physical, cognitive, language, social, emotional and cultural. This mission will be accomplished by a dedicated, highly qualified staff working with the children, parents and the community. First Preschool and Pre-K is open to all preschool age children 2 through 6 years of age. We operated five days a week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, September through May. We offer the option of one, two, three, four, or all five days. A full day is over 5 hours anytime between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM or a half day is under 5 hours. We will be closed 3 major holidays: Spring Break, Thanksgiving and Christmas and follow District 60 schedule with minor differences in December and May. Children participate in various age appropriate activities. Older children will develop number concepts, reading readiness and problem solving skills through sorting, counting, puzzles and other manipulative activities. Younger children will feel secure to play and explore in a safe and fun environment. Children attend Chapel for Bible stories, memory verses, songs, and prayer. Our staff are highly dedicated and experienced. Our lead teachers meet state licensing qualifications. All staff members are trained in CPR, first aid and universal precautions.
