Suprise upcharges, disorganized, unprofessional

I hired this service for an event, and was not pleased with the results. I had to remind him twice to send me a liquor purchase list. He never did provide a drink menu, although he promised three or four times to send one.

We had a 25% increase in headcount, and warned the service sufficiently in advance for them to be prepared. At the time of the headcount increase, we volunteered to automatically pay 25% more than the original amount(obviously).

The initial price was $1,100 for 100 people (with us paying for all beer, wine, and liquor, and purchasing it separately). We agreed to an upcharge of $300 for the change in headcount.

His purchase list for alcohol ran out about 1/3 of the way through the event, so we sent an envoy to purchase more. Also, his fee was to include (per his website) all mixers, pop, ice, etc. These also ran out, and we had to purchase the required supplies out of our pockets, sending one of the attendees of the event to fetch them for him.

He did mix good drinks, he is easy on the eyes, and by the looks of his tip jar, he made several hundred dollars in tips from the attendees of the party.

At the end of the event, the bartender wanted a check for $800 instead of the agreed-upon $300. I was flabbergasted. His lack of professionalism leading up to the event would have been forgivable had the event gone smoothly (which it did not). But it seemed totally unreal that he would expect us to pay for the supplies that were his responsibility, then to randomly change the negotiated price after the event was over. Very unprofessional. I own a small service business, and we would never change a customers price by that huge a percentage after the fact.

In the end, I would recommend every vendor who worked this event EXCEPT My Bartender.
