Helen Driscoll and Scott Rubel launched Invitesite.com in 1999. For years, the couple has had a passion for the rich and sensual qualities of fine papers. Scott learned letterpress printing in the early 1980's, when printers were giving presses and type away. He built a print shop so he could marry his love of type, wood-engraving and drawing. At the same time, he discovered the first Macintosh computer. Rubel is one of the few printers in the country who is as comfortable with 15th century technology as he is with Adobe Photoshop. Before the creation of Invitesite, Helen opened Fine Paper Company, a shop located just off Colorado Boulevard in historic Old Town Pasadena, CA. The first of its kind in the LA area, the 3, 000 square foot retail venue re-introduced the forgotten art of fine papermaking to the general public, with letterpress printing and thousands of handmade and fine papers from all over the world. Fine Paper won The LA Weekly's "Best of LA" in 1996, a much coveted award. Before opening Fine Paper Company, Helen sold rare and antiquarian books to collectors and Hollywood elite for seven years. Helen's rare book background provides a vast archive of inspiration for designs and applications for Invitesite customers. Since its launch in 1999, Invitesite has been marrying beauty and practicality with its fine paper invitations and cards. From papers to printing, Invitesite is committed to green business practices. Invitesite products include wedding invitations, and thank you notes, as well as holiday cards and invitations.
