- CrownsTAD's also known as Temporary Anchorage Devices are used in certain cases by Dr. Vardy to assist in the biomechanics to move teeth more efficiently & to achieve ideal corrections in less time. Below is a case used in conjunction with TAD's to open the bite and to maximally retract the protruded upper front teeth. This patient also had prosthodontic crowns placed, after orthodontics, to maximize the esthetics of the individual teeth and overall smile:-)
- Dental ImplantsBelow is another patient of Dr. Vardy's whose molar was lost yrs ago, with the back molar tipping into the missing molar space. Dr. Vardy placed a TAD and limited posterior braces to upright the molar for future implant replacement. The remaining orthodontic issues will be corrected using Invisalign Technology (a series of clear plastic aligners that sequentially move the teeth into ideal positions).
- Oral SurgeryEvery orthodontist starts out in dental school. Upon completion of dental school, some graduates immediately go into practice as dentists. Others choose to pursue a dental specialty, which requires additional schooling during a two- to three-year residency program. There are nine specialties sanctioned by the American Dental Association. Some you are likely familiar with are Pediatric Dentistry (dentistry for children), Periodontics (dentistry focusing on the gums), and Oral Surgery.
- Jaw SurgeryBy this age, most children have a good mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier to correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without extractions or jaw surgery.
