- Dental ExaminationOur Midtown dental office regularly cares for the needs of children as young as three years old. However, if you notice that your child has a problem with his or her teeth or gums prior to this age, please schedule an appointment. You may also want to bring your child to your dental checkup when he or she is about two so that your child can become familiar with the sights, sounds, and friendly helpers in our dental office. We call this a Happy Visit. Your child's independent checkup at age three will involve a tooth-by-tooth inspection and periodontal exam. The dentist will check for proper development, as well as tooth decay and other areas of concern.

- Teeth CleaningEveryone over the age of four or five should visit the dentist for a professional hygiene (cleans teeth) appointment twice per year. Our gentle hygienists will inspect your gums for periodontal disease, the leading cause of tooth loss for American adults. The hygienists are specially trained to detect, deter, and treat gum disease. We prefer to help you maintain optimal oral health so that you never have to worry about gum disease. However, if you develop periodontal problems, we're here to help you.
- Fluoride TreatmentThe importance of Children's Dental Checkups As your child grows, they will need regular checkups and hygiene visits to ensure optimal oral health. Our NYC Dental team will also teach oral homecare techniques so that your child can learn how to effectively brush and floss, with your help at first, then on his or her own. The dentist may recommend dental sealants (protects teeth from cavities) or fluoride (makes teeth stronger) supplements. Sealants are thin, clear coatings that protect hard-to-clean back teeth from the sugars that cause tooth decay. Fluoride attracts other minerals to strengthen tooth enamel and ward off cavities. Because most bottled water does not contain fluoride, your child may be deficient in this essential mineral. Sealants and fluoride supplements are quick and easy protective measures that can save your little one from cavities.
- Dental SealantsMany people have deep pits and grooves in their teeth where bacteria and food particles can hide and cause decay. Children with poor brushing habits may also develop decay on hard-to-reach molars. For situations like these, dental sealants (protects teeth from cavities) offer a means of protecting molar and premolar chewing surfaces from decay. Recognized by the American Dental Association as a key means of cavity prevention, Dental sealants (protects teeth from cavities) are simply a thin plastic film that can be applied to teeth.
- FillingsA. Metal fillings are made of silver/amalgam, and they are designed to last about eight years. An old amalgam filling may break down, leak, or decay can begin under the filling. Furthermore, the FDA recently overturned its stance on amalgams. You see, dental amalgam contains mercury, a harmful heavy metal. The FDA now warns people who are pregnant or have mercury allergies, as well as young children, to avoid amalgam fillings. At Preferred Dental Care, we place tooth-colored fillings, crowns, inlays, and onlays, so you can have peace of mind that your dental work does not contain harmful mercury. White dental work will also keep your smile white and beautiful, so you can eat and speak with confidence.
- Resin CompositeBecause composite resins are not made of metal, we can blend and mix shades to find the perfect color to match your natural teeth. This means only you and your dentist will know you have fillings. Another pro is that the tooth/composite bond actually supports the remaining tooth structure, deterring breakage and insulating against temperature changes. Medium and small composites can last seven to ten years – that’s as long as the tried and true amalgams. Best of all, composite resins allow us to keep more of your natural tooth structure intact than amalgams. We believe in conservative dentistry – the more natural tooth structure you keep, the better teeth you’ll likely have in the future.
- VeneersOur Dentists will design custom veneers for your front teeth based on your skin tone, face shape, features, and current dentition. Then, a ceramist will hand make each veneer to the dentist’s exacting specifications. High-quality porcelain and expert craftsmanship will deliver porcelain veneers that look natural and beautiful.
- CrownsTemporary Crown Falls Out If your temporary falls out and you still have it, dry your natural tooth, apply a small dab of toothpaste to the temporary and reattach it. You may also use dental wax or temporary adhesive, available at most pharmacies. Please call our office so that we can professionally reattach your temporary as soon as possible.
- BridgesWhat is a Fixed Bridge? First of all, a bridge is a prosthetic tooth (or teeth) that attaches on one or both sides to teeth prepared with dental crowns (adds strong top to teeth). A fixed bridge is permanently joined onto the neighboring abutment teeth (crowned teeth) and consists of three basic units: the false tooth or teeth (called a pontic) and two abutment crowns (adds strong top to teeth). The style of bridge we suggest will depend upon the strength and health of the abutment teeth, as well as the location of the gap in relation to the rest of your dentition. If healthy adjacent abutment teeth aren't available, a surgically-implanted metal post, known as a dental implant, may offer a solid alternative. For a bridge that replaces many teeth, we may recommend a removable partial denture or implant-supported prosthesis. With proper care, a fixed bridge may last at least 8 to10 years.
- Dental BondingA. You experienced one of many misunderstandings we see in dentistry. The terminology used in dentistry is not consistent throughout our profession. The word "cap" as used in dentistry can refer to a number of different things. A “pulp cap” refers to a calcium-containing dressing placed under a deep filling to promote healing. A full crown or cap, made by a dental lab, completely covers the outside of a tooth. Some dentists use composite bonding to rebuild a partly broken tooth. Your dentist was probably telling the truth, but his meaning was unclear.

- Root Canal TreatmentTo understand a root canal, it's helpful to first explain the anatomy of a tooth. A tooth contains several layers. The hard outer layer, called the enamel, the soft inner layer, called the dentin, and beyond that, a chamber of nerves and vessels with canals that extend below the gum line. Sometimes, the inner chamber of the tooth gets infected with bacteria and a sort of rotting occurs that quickly spreads into the roots. If you don’t remove the infection, or this “rotting,” it will cause pressure within the tooth and a lot of pain. If left untreated, the infection can ultimately spread into the gums, and from the gums into your bloodstream, which then travels to your heart and brain. When the bacteria and infection gets into your heart you may suffer a heart attack, and when it gets into your brain you may suffer from a stroke. Not handling the infection of one tooth can eventually lead to death if not treated in a timely manner.
- Deep CleaningIf we find cause for concern, we may recommend that you change your oral healthcare routine or the products you use at home. We may also suggest a deep cleaning, which involves...
- DenturesI am a 39 yr. old mother of three, who, before I came here, was a complete dental phobic. As a result, my teeth were broken, missing, discolored. In other words, they were so bad that I thought that they were a lost cause. Besides, every time I went to the dentist before, all I got was a lot of pain and many lectures – NEVER any understanding or HOPE. Recently, my friend Linda told me about Preferred Dental. She had an upper denture done at the Douglaston location and was very happy with it. So, with a lot of trepidation, I let her bring me here, expecting the worst. Well, it was the complete opposite! EVERYONE here was nothing but kind, respectful, and most important, they told me they could help me. First, I needed to get prepared for both an upper and a lower denture. I needed to have 19 surgical and 5 regular extractions. The oral surgeon you referred me to (Dr. Tabarorki) was also nothing but kind and respectful. He made sure that getting the 24 extractions at once was as pain free as possible, AND he had an assistant there just to hold my hand and offer me support, which meant SO MUCH to me. Now I’m here to pick up my dentures, which are GORGEOUS! The staff here and my dentist, Dr. Trivedi, are all so wonderful, and I have already recommended both Preferred Dental and Dr. Tabarorki to many people. Thanks to you, I am able to smile with confidence for the first time in my life! You will never begin to know how much that means to me.

- Tooth ExtractionsMom, it’s time to go to the dentist. No way, that’s what I was thinking. My daughter said I would love the dentist here. My thoughts were, you have seen one you have seen them all. I’m 40 yrs old and all of my dental experiences have not been good at all. For the sake of the children, I bring the family in. Guess what, I need a tooth extraction. No way. The family convinced me to get it over with. The dentist assured me it would be a breeze. Of course I have heard that before. The worst part was the pinch of a needle. Within minutes the wisdom tooth was out.
- Bone GraftingDental Implants were developed in 1952, in a laboratory in the university town of Lund, Sweden by Profes-sor Per-Ingvar Brånemark, who had a “lucky” accident during bone grafting research. Much to his dismay, Dr. Brånemark discovered that it was impossible to recover any of the bone-anchored titanium microscopes he was using. The titanium plate had apparently bonded irreversibly to living bone tissue, an observation which contradicted all scientific theory at the time.
- OrthodonticsStraight teeth will not only improve your smile and self-confidence, they will contribute to better oral hygiene as well. Crooked teeth make brushing and flossing difficult and can cause an unstable bite. With orthodontics (makes teeth straight), the dentist can give adults, teenagers, and children that well-deserved straight and healthy smile.
