As a former tenant, I would ab...

As a former tenant, I would absolutely advice everyone against moving in here.

One time my unit became infested with mice.

Kept complaining to the management about it but they didn't do anything.

Finally, I located the source on my own.

A pregnant mouse had crawled into my apt through a hole in utility room below my apt in basement.

They wouldn't seal the hole despite my frequent request.

Meanwhile, the mouse laid baby mice in my apt.

Over the period of few days, I counted nine little baby mice caught in the traps I laid.

(images of dead poor little mice still haunt me!) They finally came one day and sealed the hole.

I would have sealed the damn hole myself but it was behind the fixed cabinets and unreachable for me.

Anyway, I lived most of three months with my relatives as I wasn't sure how big the mice infestation was because I kept catching baby mouse every time I laid the trap.

Meanwhile I lost my job (the mice infestation was partly responsible for my job loss, as I had long commute during the time I lived with my relatives) I found another job in Jan.

'08

My next lease was up for renewal in July 08.

My commute to new job was 1 and 1/2 hrs away.

I commuted for four months, meanwhile, I requested in written notice to the management if it'd be ok to break my lease before July due to these circumstances.

Their answer was that it'd be no problem.

I moved to another apt in north jersey in April '08.

I had called the Jumping Brook management at least two more times, asking for their permission to break my lease, in addition to writing them a letter, every time I was told they didn't see any problem with it.

So just before signing another lease at my new apt, I yet again called the J.B.

Apts for the last time.

Again, I was told everything is OK.

So I moved out in April, 4 months before my lease was up.

Then, beginning 2009, I got letter from collection agency demanding 4 months rent because I didn't fulfill my lease.

I filed claim in freehold with full evidence supporting the uninhabitable place had become due to the rodent infestation.

Moreover, I had asked to be freed from the lease contract which they agreed to.

Their lawyer settled the case out of the court and agreed to cancel all their demands for the money.

They signed the settlement letter.

I thought it was the end of it.

But no, the collection agency kept demanding the money.

When I called the management, someone told me to fax the settlement letter to them.

I couldn't find the letter.

Besides, I thought why do I have to fax them letter when their lawyer should also have a copy'

I recently had to buy a car with higher interest rate because the charges from Jumping Brook apts is still on my credit as delinquent and I didn't know how to go about clearing that up.

So, anyone planning to move into this place, I would suggest you weigh all your other options.

(BTW, there's been also a case or two of drugs related shootings in the complex)
