- The Ford Street Project provides shelter, housing, substance abuse treatment and employment services to the homeless, addicted and disabled of Mendocino County, Calif. The organization has been serving Mendocino County since September, 1974. It began serving the homeless population in 1982, and has grown steadily since. Ford Street operates in three basic areas: housing (including shelter), drug and alcohol treatment, and job training/development. These three areas break down into many programs. Ford Street is the largest provider of homeless housing and support services in Mendocino County. Ford Street Project receives an annual grant each year from the Department of Social Services (DSS) to provide drug and alcohol assessment and counseling services to recipients of County General Assistance funds. Separate programs are offered in Ukiah and Fort Bragg, Calif. The Ford Street Project has a location in Ukiah, Calif.
