User Rating: 5 out of 5 stars by J Lam 09/11/2011 There are sports-oriented martial arts schools, schools that focus on "traditional" art forms using old-style weapons (swords, etc.), and there are schools that focus on modern, realistic self-defense. This school definitely falls into the latter category. In addition to hand-to-hand self-defense scenarios, this school also teaches practical defense techniques against knives, guns, clubs, etc., that are as effective for the average Joe as it is for women, children and older adults. As a police officer who trains there, I know the techniques and training I have received, has made me safer on the job. If you want tournament trophies and skills with a samurai sword, check out the other schools... however, if you want practical, realistic, self-defense, check out this place with an open mind.

For pure no-nonsense self defense I have not found a better school. They are not about winning medals or a tournament school, they are about teaching you how to defend yourself. Really like that they dont teach you how to fight on the ground, they teach you how to survuve and escape from the ground. There pressure point classes and seminars are second to none. Even the 4-6 year olds are learning simple but efective self defense. Highly recomend this school!
