      King Centerless Grinding Company recently celebrated their 40th anniversary as a provider of dependable, quality grinding and as a light-manufacturing source. Brothers Jerry and Cecil King founded King Centerless in September 1957. The brothers set up shop in Hazel Park in a small building near Nine Mile and Hughes. They soon outgrew those cramped quarters and moved to a larger building on Nine Mile Road. King Centerless remained in Hazel Park for 25 years-constructing additions to their plant, purchasing the adjacent property and building and expanding their base of loyal clients. By the early 1980s, however, the company found their land-locked location precluded further expansion and began to look for a new location. King Centerless moved to its Stephenson Highway plant in Madison Heights in the summer of 1982-just in time to celebrate their 25th year in business! The company found its location attractive because of its proximity to an already-established customer base, the easy access from both I-75 and I-696 and ( once the road construction was completed ) the newly improved and divided Stephenson Highway. King's capable, experienced personnel continue to fulfill customers' special centerless grinding needs in their constantly updated facility of more than 20, 000 square feet. They are able to provide SPC compliance reports, fulfill export requirements and serve a wide variety of customers requiring accurate and speedy grinding. Specialties include micro-finishes and close tolerances, while providing quick turnaround times. King Centerless specializes in the types of precision grinding job "that no one else can do!"-whether the job involves a close-toleranced prototype or a production-type run. Key players on King Centerless' current "team roster" include: Jerry King-President, Vivian and Dominique King-Vice Presidents, Garry Harreld-Plant Manager, and Judy Osowski-Office Manager, a well-trained inspection staff and crew of expert machinists.
