In 2009, I was hired by Aptus ...

In 2009, I was hired by Aptus after several interview sessions with both Mr. Sprague and his project managers. Two weeks later Mr. Sprague laid me off claiming great economic concern after watching an episode of Charlie Rose on PBS. During this period at Aptus, I made an honest effort to engage the small family-like staff, as well as learn a new software in order to be productive asap. I did not doubt the vulnerabilities of the Great Recession, but the issue is that I found Mr. Sprague to have been extremely irresponsible, and I found some important members of his staff to have been lacking in character. In addition to his aloofness and lack of organization, Mr. Sprague has a tendency to make anti-semitic comments within his office environment. Important members of his staff appear to harbor xenophobic attitudes in what has become a very multi-cultural reality in Las Vegas. Of course they live in a multi-cultural planet. Architects really should know better than this, especially when some members of his staff are docents at the architecture school at UNLV. I wonder how xenophobia introduces itself within a rich architectural endevour. It must be a Southwestern phenomemon, and in this office folks are clearly Libertarians who can't seem to separate their professional responsibilities from their politics and personal biases. It is a very sad state of affairs for a profession that belongs to all of humanity. Folks, there are much better architecture firms in southern California, and much better schools of architecture where xenophobia has no place whatsoever with it's competent and well trained docents. Please FOCUS on architecture and humanity, not political science.
