Working in cooperation with Premier Radiology, P.C. and Borgess Medical Center, KNI provides Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans. KNI has introduced a number of new imaging tools, along with new technology, computer software and diagnostic protocols. Southwest Michigan's only 1-Tesla high-field, open magnet. The open magnet is ideal for obese patients or patients who suffer from claustrophobia. CT imaging, although not new to KNI, has become a more significant portion of its imaging services. Functional MR Imaging, FMRI allows physicians to map brain functions and brain activity by measuring blood flow in the brain in response to neural activity. FMRI is used to effectively assess the effects of stroke or degenerative disease and can be used to monitor the growth of brain tumors.
