My favorite food on my diet is meat. I arrived at Piggly Wiggly Saturday evening to purchase some top choice tenderloin... AKA Filet Mignon. Upon my choice of $45. worth of bulk meat I rang the bell for the meat dept. No answer. Rang again... again. again... etc. Saw people milling about in the back (the door was a one way mirror / window) with bright lights on occasionally in the back I could see a person..



So I went the customer service desk.



"I'm sorry but the meat dept is closed" was stated to me.



My comment in reply was "Then why does the sign on door say Ring bell for assistance... Personnel on duty"?



No answer was given... so rather disgusted I walked away, picked out for a few more pounds of meat and walked away muttering.



A store clerk/grocery bagger etc heard my complaint and offered to help.



He stated that he would check with this manager to see if anything could be done.



His manager was the one I saw milling around in the back and eventually came out and said they were closed for inventory.



I said "Then why does the sign say to "Ring bell for service, Ppersonel on duty"?"



He said "What do you want me to do?", "Change the sign?"



The sign was the kind you find in a name plate on a desk... I said "Noooo, remove it! So others don't have to waste their time like me"



He raised his voice above what any one would consider is acceptable to a customer and said "I'm sorry" in an antogonositic way.



Apparently neither he nor the girl at the customer service desk knew the sign slid out. I thought, DA (and I don't mean duh).



I said to him "This isn't rocket science" and I flicked it the sign to the side with my finger.



I think if this guy is in charge of the meat department they need some serious thought about management.



Kudos though to the bagger/clerk who tried to assist me. The young guy is management material... The meat department manager needs replacement...



Current management needs to rethink customers needs and desires. My need was not to sit and wait for 5 minutes... UNACCEPTABLE!!!.



The bagger definitely cares more about customer service than management.



I wrote this the night it happened so everyone is accountable for their actions.
