A. Tips for an Effective Search
|
Be very specific. The more words you use to describe the needs you have, the better the search engines can match results to your needs. For example, if you want to take a discount Alaskan cruise vacation, put that in the box, not just "cruise." Similarly, if you are shopping for a digital camera, and you know the model number, include that in your search. You may also want to include a product's model number, size or color. If you want just a photo or music file, you can limit the search to just those items. If you are searching for an exact phrase, most engines will allow you to put it in quotations.

B. Shopping Search
|
If you are searching for a particular product and want to know the price of that product at several merchants, there are now price and shopping engines that can be used in conjunction with the portals and search engines. You can even compare retail outlets to auction houses and look for both new and used merchandise. One of the most versatile shopping sites is:
