      Founded as a Christian faith-based charity in 1939, the Huntington City Mission offers physical, emotional, educational and spiritual services to individuals. The organization offers food, clothing, job training, employment, benefits assistance and medical care services. The organization s housing programs include men s shelter, women and family shelter, Project Hope, Safe Quarters and The Lazarus Program. In addition, it provides treatment for mental health problems, and drug and alcohol addictions. The Huntington City Mission employs several licensed counselors and social workers who provide counseling services. It conducts classes on various topics, such as parenting, cooking, cleaning, money management, self-esteem, character building, personal hygiene and dating. The Huntington City Mission is based in Huntington, W. Va.
