This Center requests a 50$ copay that is not required by my Insurance Co. The Center says it is required as they called for benefits, and were told this amount. I spoke to my Insurance Co and they did not find indication that the person who called for benefits, did not reflect the call with the Insurance Co. Therefor, since I paid the amount the business office told me to pay ($50) I was out that money. The business office at the Center said they keep the money IN CASE it became necessary if the MD removed a polyp. At that point the $50 copay would be used. When they find that the $50 was not needed upon their billing, they return the money in the NEXT MONTH after the proceedure. This means that the Center has the patient's money up to 8 weeks before they return by means of a refund check.This is blatantly an incorrect proceedure. No group or Clinic should hold onto any amount of $ that is not theirs. The owners of the Clinic can easily invest that $,make $ on it, while we lose $50.
