      Established in 1979, the Corporation for Independent Living was established by a coalition of service providers to create small residences in residential neighborhoods for people with disabilities. It is a nonprofit housing development corporation that offers community housing for people with developmental disabilities, accessible homes for people with physical disabilities and affordable multifamily housing, as well as homes for first-time homebuyers of low income. The Corporation for Independent Living s housing developers assist clients with the selection of project professionals and construction contractors. It provides technical assistance in the areas of real estate finance, construction and development. The company s services include site selection and evaluation, development and operating budgets preparation, funding compliance, and construction bidding and supervision. The Corporation for Independent Living is located in Wethersfield, Conn.
