- AutismThe Social Norms for Autism app was created by a certified speech and language pathologist for children with autism spectrum disorder. This app helps children learn social rules and behaviors through stories. The Social Norms app is ideal for parents, educators, and speech language pathologists as it allows full customization. The users have the ability to add their own photos, text, and audio recordings to create individualized stories that teach specific skills that the child with autism spectrum disorder may have difficulty learning or understanding.
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)“Sara Speziale-Hartery is a wonderful SLP and person! She was always well aware of what skills our son needed to work on and she targeted those skills during his sessions. She assigned appropriate homework which was great because I knew what to focus on with our son at home. She also used different techniques to help him stay on task (ADHD). Our child enjoyed his sessions with "Miss Sara" and he told me recently, "I miss working with Miss Sara". *I whole-heartedly believe that Miss Sara (and the time our son spent with her) is the main reason why his rate of speaking and language skills have improved so drastically! Before he started speech, he was rarely understood by others when he spoke and his receptive language was far below average as well. He is now average in his language skills! This is AMAZING TO ME, and we owe this to Sara! I don't think "Thank You" will ever be enough! I would absolutely recommend the SLP Center to other families in need.” Nancy K.
- Mental HealthMany have lost loved ones to the battles of mental health. While discussions of mental health and suicide have risen, many people don’t realize or discuss the mental health struggles that also affect neurodiverse and people with disabilities. Take time to check in on loved ones, neurotypical and neurodiverse, to let them know that they are not alone. There are two walks/runs taking place in Boston and on the South Shore/Cape to bring awareness to mental health and suicide prevention. For more information or to register or volunteer, please visit their websites. Additionally, we’ve included links to organizations in Massachusetts who have set out to increase awareness and destigmatize discussions of suicide and take steps to ensure people of all ages have supports and resources to help them through challenging times.
