General Info

From a Sunday School organized in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Cash on Railroad Avenue in 1894, the seed for our church was sown. Rev. B.P. Robertson, then pastor of First Baptist Church, along with some of the members, assisted in the Sunday School work.In 1898 a lot was secured on Cherokee Avenue about three blocks south of where the present building stands, and a church of wooden structure was erected. The name was changed at this time to the Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. This building was used as a church and as a school building until 1910 when plans were made for the erection of the present building.
