I am so grateful to have found this animal hospital. They have outstanding doctors and lower prices than anyplace I've ever been. Their mission is to provide quality care to lower income people whose pets would not get care otherwise. However, quality is not sacrificed. Dr. Koya is the doctor I am most familiar with, and I find her brilliant, thorough and very caring. The only downside (and it's worth it considering all the pluses) is a long wait. This is a walk-in clinic that does not take appointments (except for vaccinations) and the waits are long. I now sign in and then go shopping. No money is spent on dcor or location, but it's nice and clean and excellent in all the ways that matter.

We have been going here for over 10years. Dr.Rudawski was recommended to us by a naturalist vet.in Antioch. Dr. Rudawski has always given all our pets excellent care and he is worth the waiting time. We ask for him each time our dog or cat is signed in. Others that came in after us may be seen before us but only because they didn't ask for Dr. Rudawski as we do. We make the long drive from Crystal Lake about every 2 weeks to have him care for our pets, and pass right by previous vets we've been to.If you don't like sitting in the large waiting area, you can sit outside in your car and you would hear your turn on the speaker in the parking lot pa. The only person I thought to be, somewhat rude, quit in the past year. There have also been emergency cases that have been brought in that have been brought in that take priority and we get bumped. I understand this. It's the same in an emergency room for humans. We have faith in his humanity toward all others.

The veterinarians and the staff in the back were absolutely awesome. They took great care of our dog and I felt as if we were in extremely competent hands. However I will say they have one of the worst front desks that I have ever had to encounter, as far as the employees. The eye rolls, the short snappings at nearly every customer that was there left MUCH to be desired. If you can get past being treated like a basic parasite by the rude front desk, then the guts of the operation is well worth the trip. My fiance is a physician and never brags about it, they even talked to him like someone who had a third grade education and couldn't understand the basics of what they were saying - eye rolling included. Just keep them in perspective when you visit.....sometimes you have to wade through the mire to get to the good stuff. I keep hoping one of these days they will realize their customers, the ones paying the bills, shouldn't be treated this way and things will change.

Dr. Rudawski is the Best Vet. We have 7 dogs we take to the Clinic and he is Most Caring explains precisely what the problem is. He is the Best Surgeon around and does a fantastic job on cropping ears, tears in leg ligaments, fixed our puppy's legs that had a disease by redoing both of her bones it is truly a miracle how he knows and does surgery. The techs are great with trimming nails, cleaning ears and rectal glands. Superior Job(s)!! Truly the BEST AROUND!

Very kind and concerned staff. Vets are top notch and caring. No appointments taken but worth the wait. VERY reasonable and my dogs and cat get great care there. Have been going there for many years and would not go anywhere else.

Yes, the first-come, first served is definitely not a good thing BUT everyone that works there is very nice, friendly and helpful and the cost is phenomenal. My huband and I have been taking our dogs and cats there for years and we have never been disappointed. Dr. Rudawski specializes in cats so we always ask for him when we take our Bengals. He performed a small nose biopsy on one of them last year, and was sincerely surprised that he was not disfigured. Excellent doctor! The drive and wait is definitely worth the service and cost!

My puppy is from a rescue and I have taken her twice to Fox Lake Animal Hospital. The doctor did not catch the fact that she has pneumonia or ear mites or check her blood to find out that she is anemic. I had to take her to vet that knew what she was doing or I probably would have lost her due to a bad diagnosis. I would never take her back to Fox Lake, not even for vaccinations.

The best decision I ever made!

We live in the far south suburbs (, IL) and travel to fox lake for our dogs. We have 2 Fila's one which was very sick and needed surgery. All the vets by us said the surgery would be around $2,000. Then just prior to having the surgery she had a large growth on the side of her face. The vets by us said it was cancer and she now needed surgery for that before her leg. Our breeder told us about their vet so we thought we had nothing to lose so we went to fox lake animal hospital. Turns out she did not have cancer but a jaw disorder which is treated with steroids ( the cost to diagnose this cost us all of $10) and the surgery on her leg was only $600. That was 4 years ago. She is a healthy happy Fila. It is well worth the long drive. We get up at 5:00a.m. so we can be one of the first in line. It's a pain not having appointments but that's the only bad thing about fox lake. The care and attention is great.

The worst decision I ever made!

My experience with the staff at this place was one that should never be tolerated. They were not friendly, nor did they seem to understand my instruction that my animal needed to be fully sedated in order to be groomed. Instead they kept my animal all day and by 5pm still had not sedated her and groomed her when I dropped her off at 8:30 am. By 5:15pm I went to the facility to check on my animal to be told that she was sedated and would be worked on next. I was treated in a manner that was unnecessary so I called the manager to speak to her about the situation. The manager was just as unhelpful as the groomer. When I asked her to check on my cat she came back and advised me they couldn't groom the cat as she was being uncooperative. How could this be if she was asleep and sedated as I specificallyadvised them to do? Come to find out they didn't sedate her and it took 3 people to hold my cat down to groom her. The staff there is unprofessional & not courteous to say the least!

Good quality for the price

This vet does not take appointments - first come, first serve, so get there early and expect long delays - HOWEVER, the docs are super and all medications are sold to you at the hospital's cost. Their prices are lower than 800-PetMeds! I've heard that Dr Rudawski specializes in German Sheperds, but he's worked on everything from small rodents to tigers!!
