I have been dealing with Elmer's for MANY years and have dealt with Myron every time. I am also a small businessman and understand the need to control costs. I'm not sure what the other two posters had happen to them but I have always been extremely happy with the service I have received there. Myron is a consummate professional and I have always felt I received added value when shopping there.

mayron is a disrespectful guy,...

mayron is a disrespectful guy, very very bad customer service, couldn't repair a regulator leak !!! i still can't believe this !!! a simple leak , oh by the way :) he charged me $25 and give me my regulator with the leak and said : sorry this regulator need to be changed and started showing me regulators in his shop trying to push me to buy lol when i asked why $25, he said :D i spent 45 minutes trying to repair it :D and started becoming rude and impolite, so he felt that i wasn't interested in buying a new regulator from him then he went upstairs and left me waiting down with my regulator until i started calling : excuse me ! excuse me ! then he came down and was very very very very very disrespectful, he is stupid simply like this.

i left the shop very pissed and nervous, i took my regulator to another dive shop, they repaired it in 20 minutes , i wouldn't recommend this dive shop for anything even a fill, who knows maybe he doesn't know how to change the filters on the compressor .... since he couldn't repair a very easy and simple regulator leak , so be careful

AVOID GOING HERE!!! I would g...

AVOID GOING HERE!!! I would give it no stars but I did not get the option.

This is a terrible dive shop and the owner Myron is a terrible business owner and shrewd!!!

First of all, a little background.

About 4 years ago, my husband and I came here to get our open water certification and then decided to get Nitrox certified. We came to this dive shop since it was local and wanted to go local. We spent hundreds of dollars to get certified by them and trusted this shop since it was a small business owner.

In December, my husband and I came back here to get our equipment serviced (regulator, octo, BCD and dive computers). They asked up when our trip was and we told them and they said it would be ready before we left for our trip. When we got our equipment back, I was in for a shock when I paid for the service! I paid $450! I was like OMG and then shrugged it off as I thought that was pricey but then thought about it as it my safety. Let's me honest, I never had my stuff serviced so I did not know what to expect.

So on my very FIRST dive in Grand Cayman, as I was descending, I look at my computer and noticed that my dive computer stopped working. As I showed the divemaster in bottom of the ocean, she told me to abort my dive since I couldn't continue without a gauge or computer. When I came up, the other divemaster looked at my computer and said my computer was flooded and trashed and that I should go back to my dive shop where I had them service it. Not only that, my regulator turned up "free-flowing" and my octo was leaking a little air.

So a couple of days after I came back from my trip, I stopped by Elmer's and told them what happened. The guy James who works there felt bad and assured me that Myron would do whatever he can to make it right.

Myron called me a day afterwards and said he contacted the manufacturer of my dive computer and said that the manu would charge him $260 on it. Then he said I would have to pay for it. I was so upset as:

1. Elmer's FLOODED my computer when they changed my battery.

2. Paying for a dive that I had to abort.

3. Paying for rental gear.

4. Myron telling me his loss/profit amounts on battery change.

5. Fighting with Myron as he is telling me that I had to pay for the $260 and that he was nice enough in covering the cost of shipping it back to the manufacturer.

First of all, I am not a business owner. But it was in poor taste that he's telling me his loss/profit margins and then he was telling me he was being nice enough to pay for the shipping. With that said, he is being shrewd as he did screw up my computer. A computer that I bought new and now it's a non-functioning computer.

I couldn't talk to Myron anymore as he was being a jerk so I deployed my husband to talk to him. He finally gave in and said that he would "eat" half the cost of the repair from the manufacturer. First of all, being a small business owner, wouldn't you want to help keep customers instead of fighting with them over $130 and risking a relationship with them???

My husband decided it was a lost cause fighting with Elmer's and decided to pay the $130 (half of the expenses)

So with my experience with Elmer's is terrible.

Recap:

1. Paid $450 for servicing dive equipment with reg and octo not working right and trashed computer

2. Paid $50 for an aborted dive

3. Paid for dive computer rental about $60

4. Paid $130 for the replaced computer (that I feel Elmer's should have eaten the cost of it for screwing it up)

5. TAXES on the $130 = 12

TOTAL: $702

So needless to say, I'm NEVER coming back! I down $702!! when supposedly I would have had no problem paying the $450 to get things serviced.

I've learned that the owner Myron, is not a good business owner in fighting with me about this and saying he was doing me a favor by contacting the manufacturer.
