- Internal MedicineDr. Peacock received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN in 1985 (double major in Molecular Biology and History) and his medical degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 1989. He subsequently received his residency training in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia (now Augusta University) where he was appointed Chief Medical Resident from 1992-93. He remained on the faculty in General Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia for over a decade before entering private practice in 2004. He has been listed as a "Top Doc" both in Augusta and regionally by organizations such as Best Doctors and Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. He holds a certificate in Business Administration for Physicians from Auburn University. On a personal note, Dr. Peacock's wife Amanda is a Doctor of Pharmacy. They have two children, Claire born in 2003, and Blakely born in 2006. They are members of Saint Augustine's Episcopal Church. Dr. Peacock enjoys gardening, reading, and fishing. His father was a physician in Atlanta for over 40 years practicing internal medicine and allergy and served as his inspiration to enter the medical field. - EndocrinologyDr. James L. Millen completed his undergraduate studies in piano performance with highest honors from Indiana University. He moved to New York and completed a Master’s degree in conducting while working in New York as a pianist and conductor. While in New York he achieved considerable acclaim as the principal conductor and music director of the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra. In 1980 Dr. Millen decided on a career shift to medicine, bringing him home to Augusta. His medical training included completion of his MD degree at the Medical College of Georgia, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine/Endocrinology at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. His work in Indianapolis included extensive training with the Diabetes And Metabolic Research Unit sponsored by the Eli Lilly company. After completing post-graduate training in 1988, Dr. Millen began private practice in Augusta, specializing adult endocrinology - specifically, in the care of patients with Diabetes, Thyroid disorders, Adrenal and Pituitary disorders, Lipid disorders, and metabolic disorders. In addition to his work in private practice, Dr. Millen has served since 1988 as Clinical Professor of Medicine at MCG, teaching medical residents and students. He is frequently seen lecturing in Augusta and around the state, lecturing extensively to physicians and students on Diabetes and Lipid disorders. Dr. Millen continues to be active musically, appearing as soloist in the Appleby Library series, with the Augusta Symphony, and on the Augusta Symphony Chamber series. His compositions have been performed by the Augusta Choral Society and the St. John Methodist Church choirs.
