      The Imperial County Public Health Department is responsible for improving the overall health status of residents by preventing illnesses, disabilities, premature deaths and promoting good health practices. Located in El Centro, Calif., it is a county government agency that provides a wide range of services and programs. The department serves the residents of Imperial County and works closely with local hospitals, community clinics and medical providers. The Imperial County Public Health Department provides services through its various divisions, including administration, health services and community health. Its administration division issues birth and death certificates and provides planning and evaluation services. The department s health services division offers public health laboratory, emergency, medical, clinical, bioterrorism preparedness, and maternal child and adolescent health services. Its community health division provides environmental consumer protection, health promotion, epidemiology and environmental health services.
