      General Info
      The Public Works Department operates a variety of capital improvement projects that includes drainage, wastewater and transport systems. It also undertakes water and street-related projects. The department administers a Pollution Prevention Program for the protection of environmental integrity of various resources. It provides several apartment, business, school and household hazardous waste recycling, as well as backyard and worm composting services. The department maintains a traffic engineering division that investigates public safety-related issues and complaints. The Public Works Department is operated by the City of Davis in California, which also governs human resources, finance, fire, police, and parks and general services departments.
