- General Info
- Coastal Area Agency on Aging was formed in 1973 as a department of the Coastal Regional Commission (CRC). We receive funding through the Division of Aging Services, Department of Human Services, and serve anyone over the age of 60, persons of any age with a disability, and the caregivers of these individuals who are living in Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties. We provide information and services that promote independence and well-being. We serve people of all income ranges and all disabilities through the following programs: Information and Assistance/Options Counseling- Our data base has over 20,000 resources in which we can provide information and assistance to people either over the phone or in person. We work with individuals to develop a plan that best fits their needs. Sometimes people just need a list of providers and other times they need someone to talk with more in-depth about their long-term care needs. Options Counseling is available over the phone for free, or in person on a sliding fee basis; Direct Services- We also help people access publicly funded home and community based services should they qualify (homemaker, personal care assistant, respite, meals, adult day care, etc.); Wellness Programs- In addition to these services, we also offer evidenced based wellness programs for those who may be dealing with a chronic illness or with the stress of caregiving; Assistive Technology Consultation- Assistive Technology can help people with disabilities do things they might not otherwise have been able to do. We can help people with disabilities find technological alternatives to help them live safer and more independently.
