      Established in 1953, KOMU-TV8 is a NBC affiliate television station located in Columbia, Mo. It is a university-owned commercial television station in the United States utilizing its newsroom as a working lab for students. It broadcasts sports, business, weather and crime news. Students serve as interns and then work as reporters, writers, producers and photographers for all the station s newscasts. Its online classifieds section has advertisements in various areas, including real estate, legal connections, automotive, jobs centers, personals, yellow pages and medical specialties. It generates all its revenue from advertising with no state funding and reinvests all surplus cash in continuous development of its educational mission.
