- GlaucomaGlaucoma is the leading cause of permanent blindness in the United States, and it is estimated to affect nearly one in every 50 adults. Glaucoma is often called the "silent bandit of vision" because in most cases vision loss appears gradually, unnoticed by the patient until it has become severe. Fortunately, with today’s technology and early detection, loss of sight due to most cases of glaucoma can be controlled.

- CataractsCataracts are the leading cause of vision loss among adults age 60 or older and have become increasingly common as our population ages and lives longer. Treatment requires a quick, minimally invasive surgical procedure to remove your cloudy lens and replace it with a new lens implant. Over 3 million cataract surgeries are performed each year in the United States.
- Cataract SurgeryThe procedure for refractive lens exchange is virtually identical to cataract surgery. The difference is that in RLE, the lens being replaced is clear, rather than a cloudy lens due to a cataract. Many patients consider this as a preventative procedure earlier in life as it eliminates a patient's need for cataract surgery later in life.
- Eye ExamEveryone needs a thorough, or comprehensive, eye exam. Regardless of age or vision, comprehensive eye exams can uncover more than just blurry vision. Adults, older adults and children should all get routine eye exams....

- ThyroidWe use several methods to assess proper ocular motility or eye movements such as: do your eyes move together? Strabismus is a common childhood motility problem, but misalignment can occur in adults too. Patients with thyroid disease or orbital trauma can often have ocular motility problems.
- Diabetic RetinopathyMany of us, however, will experience more serious age-related eye diseases that can significantly affect our quality of life and even lead to blindness if not treated. These include glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
- UltrasoundThe surgeon makes an incision and uses ultrasound waves to break up the hard, yellow proteins that form the cataract, leaving the lens membrane in place.
