The Community Chorus of Redlands, under the direction of Jeffrey H. Rickard, will present A Concert of Anthems, Readings, and Carols of the Advent and Christmas seasons. This festive evening features a wide variety of music both choral and instrumental and includes readings from a variety of sacred and secular sources as well as familiar carols for audience and choir. The three dates and locations of this concert are: (1) Friday, December 10 beginning at 8:00 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 2 West Olive, Redlands, (2) Saturday, December 11 beginning at 8:00 p.m. at St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church, 12687 California Street, Yucaipa, and (3) Sunday, December 12 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 321 N. Baldwin Ave., Sierra Madre. Community Chorus of Redlands is an auditioned choral ensemble of over 80 voices from throughout the greater Inland Empire and Orange County. Their founder, Jeffrey H. Rickard, Professor Emeritus of Sacred Music from the University of Redlands, Redlands, California, directs them. Mr. Rickard and the Community Chorus have designed this special seasonal musical offering from the influences of Mr. Rickards 38 years as director of The Feast of Lights, the annual Christmas Festival at the University. Special guest ensemble is Ensemble XXI, a Redlands Camerata of over twenty voices with Mr. Rickard as conductor. They will present several unaccompanied carols and anthems and join with Community Chorus in the last part of these presentations. A free-will offering will be received in support of Community Chorus and the expenses incurred in this presentation.
