Vision: With children as its first priority, the West I.S.D. strives to bring to the children of the district a better tomorrow through teamwork and growth in knowledge, service, and brotherhood. Mission: As West Independent School District joins with school districts across the state and the nation to face the challenges and demands of an ever-changing future, its mission can be described as a commitment to the preparation of the whole child. As an integral part of this mission, West ISD must continue its goal of equipping its students for the future with a common set of basic skills in the core academic areas. Beyond this, the district chooses as its mission to exceed these basic demands and to provide each student with a set of skills which will equip him to meet the challenges of his individual future in a way that maximizes his individual abilities and talents--whether this is through enhanced academic offerings, specific vocational training, transitional services, or other means. In an effort to educate the whole child, West I.S.D. will include in its mission a commitment to provide each student with opportunities to participate and excel in co-curricular activities. Students will be encouraged to see themselves as vital parts of their families, their community, their state, and their nation. If the mission of West I.S.D. is to succeed, there must be a cooperative effort of students, parents, teachers, professional and paraprofessional staff members, administrators, and board of trustees. All must be accountable for their role in the mission. At West Independent School District, it is truly believed that the best begins here with each of us.
