I could not be more pleased with the loving care that Ms. Shirley showed my family during the loss of our beloved family pet. I was happy that somebody answered the phone on a Sunday and made quick arrangements. I had called another place closer to my home, but never got a call back even though the website said emergency contact. Ms. Shirley came out within the time frame she said she would and shared our grief and gave the impression of a true professional. great job all around and I couldn't ask for more!

I am more than happy and comforted that I chose Cherish to take care of our beloved dog Max. You will not find anyone more compassionate than Shirley. I also talked to Amy several times, as she answered my many questions with patience and understanding. I love that they offer to come out to you at any time and anywhere, but I chose to bring Max to her as well as pick him up afterwards because I guess I just wanted that one "last car ride" with Max. Shirley returned Max to me in a beautiful velvet bag inside a sweet paw print tin. She also included the cremation certificate, Rainbow Bridge poem, some encouraging words and a card. I opted to get a paw print and it was more beautiful than I expected with extra special touches. I would not hesitate to recommend Cherish to anyone......their services and compassion are beyond comparison. A heartfelt Thank You to Shirley and Amy!

After making the difficult decision to have my 16 y.o. Husky/Sheperd mix named O'Malley euthanized because her life quality quickly declined, I called Shirley/Cherish Pet Cremations and Hampton Roads Vet Hospice. Adding to the angst is that O'Malley was my mother's dog from the time O'Malley was 3 months old until my Mom passed in early 2013, so losing O'Malley was like losing another piece of Mom. Shirley & Dr. Thomas were absolutely wonderful. Their supportive nature and gentle handling of both O'Malley and the family made our difficult, but final act of love, much more bearable. There is no question about using a service other than Cherish Pet Cremation (and I had in the past), no other compares to Cherish. After having sent so many pets in my life to the Rainbow Bridge, I am sure this service combination is the way I will handle my other fur kids when the time comes.

I would highly recommend Cherish Pet Cremation to anyone that has lost their pet. We were recommended to them by a co worker of my husbands, for which I am very grateful. Our dog Chachi was diagnosed with cancer In November of 2014. After days of watching him get weaker and eventually not eating, we made the heart wrenching decision to put him down. It was his 16 birthday, to the very day. Although Shirley had said they would pick him up from the vet, we choose to take him to her home. I guess it was my way of holding on until the last second. Shirley took him with gentle hands. I could tell that she truly cared and could feel my pain. I also choose to pick Chachi up from Shirleys home because I was in the area. Part of their service is bringing your pet home to you if you would like. Both people I encounted at Cherish were very friendly and caring. Chachi came home in his urn and a paw print. Also a very nice poem and card were enclosed in the bag.

I don't write reviews to often, but this review is well deserved! My precious Westie, Iysis was diagnosed with lung cancer on 9/5 and passed on 9/11 at the vet. Cherish Pet (Shirley) was there to pick her up and showed compassion throughout the entire process. As promised, Iysis was returned to me within 72 hours with an excellent and heartfelt presentation and lots of jokes from Mr. Bobby to help me with smile when Iysis was brought home. I highly recommend their services and this company. They made this truly difficult time for my family much bette to cope with. Our Iysis was truly loved and a member of our family who is greatly missed! Thank you Shirley, Bobby, & Brittany! The Johnson Family

This company is wonderful. The people here are so kind and caring. They respond to your calls immediately and really do help you in such a caring way. The passing of a pet is so sad and so difficult. These people understand completely.

Cherish is amazing. They called me back within minutes of my call to them, while my dog was in surgery. Within two hours, Gadget died and Cherish was right there to pick her up at the veterinary hospital. They were kind, caring, and professional. I picked up Gadget's ashes two later at Cherish, which is located on a beautiful, peaceful property in Virginia Beach. I was happy knowing that they took care with my family member, and that she was cremated in a private, peaceful, dignified manner. This can't be an easy job, but I'm so grateful Cherish is willing to do it.

This was the first pet loss for us. We had no idea what to do or who to turn to. We are extremely happy with our decision and extremely happy with the way this company handled the entire situation. We deeply miss our rottweiler but are happy to have him home with us.

What an amazing company! We were so upset about losing our precious Maggie. This couple was unbelievably sweet. They came to our house and took Maggie, treated her as if she were their pet. They apologized sincerely for our loss. A few days later they delivered her back to our home in the sweetest temporary urn with pay prints on it. This company made our loss so much easier. I would recommend them to anyone and do often.

The death of a beloved pet is never easy; however, Shirley and Beth at Cherish helped ease some of my pain by their sensitive handling of the cremation of my beloved Savannah, Bailey, Snowy, Mr. J. Puddin'Pop and Snickers bunnies. My darling rabbits were handled with tender, loving care and returned to me quite quickly. My Snickers' remains were placed in a beautiful urn that had rabbits on it; a fitting final resting spot for such a wonderful companion. Their willingness to come out at all hours to pick up our pets is a plus in this day of limited customer service but it's also all about the gentle, dignified methods they use to comfort you during your hour of need. I highly recommend Cherish Pet Cremation Services to everyone who truly loves their pet.

What a great business. The owner Sheri was so compassionate and sweet. I got the feeling that she was a real animal person. She was professional and warm at the same time. She came to pick Czarnie up late in the evening and visited with us for a bit then carefully placed in in a special soft canvas carrier for transport. Three days later she called to coordinate a time to have his remains returned to me. Once she came to the door, she'd returned the towel I placed Czarnie in washed and folded with a tiny bag that held a tin a certificate of cremation and a card reminding me to be grateful for the times we had together. Inside the cute tin was a velvet pouch with our little Char inside. I recommend this cremorium 100%. After working for a vet and seeing how some services handle pet remains, it was refreshing to see how gentle she was with Char. She also comforted me again when she returned his remains and was welcomed by our other cat who took to her instantly. I plan on using CHERISH i

Dignified End for Your Best Friend

General Info
The idea for Cherish Pet Cremation was begun after listening to our friends discuss their painful experiences during and after the process of losing their beloved pet. They felt overwhelmed, confused, and uncertain of how to go about providing a dignified end for their best friend . They also painfully remembered the lack of compassion and understanding that should have been shown to them during this time of heartache and grief. As a pet owner myself, I have had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with the pain and sorrow of losing my precious companions. After much thought and reflection, I began the journey of building a business aimed at meeting the emotional needs of pet owners here in the Tidewater, Virginia area. My goal is to provide the dignity, respect, and compassionate services that each pet and their owner needs and deserves. Cherish Pet Cremation Services, Incorporated, opened in January of 2003. It is the mission of this company to provide a dignified, caring service to your pet as well as comfort and support to you throughout the painful process of letting go. Compassion in taking care of the living during this time is paramount. I strongly believe in giving you the time to grieve and work through the sorrow you are feeling as your pet is crossing over to the Rainbow Bridge. I promise to treat your pet as a member of my family and to grant the dignity and respect that your pet deserves. We sell discounted pet urns including traditional photo, premium hardwoods, memorial photo, and Birchwood picture urns, in addition to combination urns and figurines. We also offer keepsake jewelry, many of which allow for a small amount of cremains to be placed inside. Keepsake jewelry pendants are available in plated, Sterling Silver and solid Gold. We also have rock urns, pet memorial stones, river rock, Dolomitic stone, granite memorial markers, Flagstone markers, cast Aluminum markers, and more. If you find an urn on another site and you don't see it here
