Completely unprofessional. This shop killed its chance to earn my business before it even started. My good nature even gave it an undeserved 2nd chance - even then this guy confirmed he has zero business sense..

I have a flats screen TV, which has already been diagnosed by an attempted repair to its power supply board. It's finally gone out for good. So I phoned Charlie's repair shop, a younger sounding male answered the phone. When I asked if they do free estimates, the line went dead. I thought my cell phone dropped the call, so I called back. Young man answered again, I repeated if they do free estimates, he stated "yeah, you're the one that just called right?" - I should have known then that he had hung up cause my call may not represent to him easy money... But I asked again and he explained that they don't and NOT in a welcoming tone by any stretch either. I the explained to him that I already knew what needed replacement, he quickly pointed out they "won't warranty it"... Again, straight to a negative point and cutting me off before end of my thoughts.... I thought again to give another patient calm chance as I pictured perhaps a rushed kid who is completely throwing away his fathers business or something like that.. So I gave him the TV model # and asked what it would cost me to replace the power supply board... He takes a few tics and states "that'll be $175 and that's not even installed" Now I don't mind paying for a part (it's $105 on the net brand new) or even paying for a small mark up, but you figure approximately $60 as mark up plus what ever he was gonna add for labor, couple that with this guys great attitude - NOT GOOD... I said to him that I've priced the part at $105 on the net, he replied "well why don't you buy that?" That's where I finally just gave up trying to give this guy my business and ended the phone call. I don't know if this guy was having a bad day or if he's just booming with business, but in the HiDesert and in this economy, if you're running a public service based business and the phone rings with a potential new client, the least you could do is be pleasant if your business demeanor is absent. Guy lost out and never got to hear that I also have a 52" RCA that needed repair too...
