Founded in 1935 during the Great Depression, GTE Federal Credit Union is one of the largest locally owned and operated financial institutions in Tampa Bay, with $1.8 billion in assets. We are a not-for-profit financial cooperative. This means we make decisions for the benefit of all our customers, whom we call member-owners, because each one has a stake, or ownership, in our cooperative. GTE FCU doesn't make a profit just to turn it over to anonymous shareholders. The money we earn is returned to our "shareholders" - our members - in the form of higher dividends and lower rates.
Your money is well protected: funds deposited at GTE FCU are covered by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF). After nearly 30 years with them, we are moving our business to another financial institution. We REFUSE to pay 25... (More) After nearly 30 years with them, we are moving our business to another financial institution. We REFUSE to pay 25 cents to use our debit card (with PIN#). We also REFUSE to be charged $1 for a "hard copy" monthly statement. They've been dropping various services over the past few years but they've finally crossed the line with these new charges. Our new bank appreciates our business and our money with free checking, free statements, and free debit card use. (Hide)
