Why do we have to be nasty to each other? The customer assumes she's going to get "taken" and the contractor tells her to 'get a clue??' The customer assumes she's going to get "taken" and the contractor tells her to 'get a clue??' Let's just explain the problems and ask for help so that these forums are helpful to everyone......The HVAC contractor is right about having to charge to check out a problem. Nobody will come out and give a FREE quote for fixing a problem. A company needs to charge for a service call to pay for his time and gas. If the customer does not wish to deal with the company after they inspect the problem and advise on a solution, that is obviously their choice. ON THE OTHER HAND, most if not all companies DO offer FREE quotes on NEW systems so that customers can shop and compare.  (Hide)

well i'am an HV/AC tech. and so free estimates are for new installations!.If u wish to get your a/c fixed it takes money from our pocket to get to the customers house and so an inspection has to be performed to check whats wrong,for consecuent is... (More) well i'am an HV/AC tech. and so free estimates are for new installations!.If u wish to get your a/c fixed it takes money from our pocket to get to the customers house and so an inspection has to be performed to check whats wrong,for consecuent is a JOB none will do it for free .so stop being hard headed .so what happens if u decide that the fixture is toexpencive,and decide not to fix it ??.so ther goes our time, gas, money ,and work.  (Hide)

called them about getting my central air fixed, said we dont give free quoets if we come out we expect to be paid! i didnt bother, i mean what if they wanted a ton of money and i didnt haveit??

I'm really glad that I chose American Standard. Contractor was more knowledgeable than the other three I had out. We are so much more comfortable, and saved tons of money with our new Heat Pump. Installing the AccuClean air cleaner has made a big... (More) I'm really glad that I chose American Standard. Contractor was more knowledgeable than the other three I had out. We are so much more comfortable, and saved tons of money with our new Heat Pump. Installing the AccuClean air cleaner has made a big difference in my wife's allergies. It's good stuff!  (Hide)

sub-standard products and an awful phone system, good luck getting ahold of these people if you need product support (which you certainly will after buying their whole-house humidifiers)

I have had several different systems and this is by far the best one out there. I got great contractor work on top of that. Would highly suggest American Standard.
