Customer service on phone was "we'll fix anything with certified repairmen, we never go over on rates, etc." when trying to get your business, but when I called back to file claim for repair was they were dishonest, patronizing, and said my mother was lying. VERY DISHONEST, NOT REPUTIBLE. I am ER MD and have moved many times with many moving companies. This by far has been the worst experience and most unethical company I have ever dealt with. Filing complaint with BBB. Watch out and do not call this company. LZ, Tampa, FL. (Hide)

(More) This complaint is completely and totally without merit, As far as my company price gouging this customer by 980.00 . The final bill was 670.00 over our original estimate. When we got to the 2nd pickup on this job, the description the customer gave us over the phone wasn't close to what the estimate was based on. My crew was on this job 17 hours. We moved them on 8-11-07, Their check bounced on 8-16-07 and after they repeatedly apologized for the inconvenience they finally paid us for the move on 9-5-07. If they had a problem with the estimate & total bill, they had multiple contact with me between 8-16-07 & 9-5-07 and never once complained about the cost of their move. This move had 2 parts to it, involving a mother and a daughter. I talked to the mother, she has no problem with the cost of the move. On 9-4-07 I received an e-mail from the daughter requesting that we send a repairman as 4 keys were not working on their piano. During the move our crewmen called our operations manager Charlie Dean to discuss their concern in moving the piano, In Their opinion the only way they could get the piano out of the area of the house it was in, would be to tip the piano on end . Mr. Dean instructed the crew to explain to the customer that we were willing to move the piano but could not accept liability for any damage occurred . Our crew reports that the customer gave verbal approval. I have never in 18+ years of owning Short Moves Inc had a crew discuss a problem with our office staff and then neglect to inform the customer . When the customer requested repair, I informed her of 2 issues I had in accepting liability #1 was the fact that we said, we could not accept liability and #2 that too much time had lapsed from the date of the move to the date of the complaint. I did tell her that without accepting liability that I would send Paul's Furniture Repair out to look at the piano to try to determine the cause of the problem. Paul has repaired many, many pianos over the years. This customer very rudely refused my offer and demanded that I send a " Certified Piano Repairman" or she would call everyone under the sun , including T.V, radio & The Better Business Bureu. I told her to go ahead and find a "Certified Piano Repairman" but that at this point I am not accepting liability and to have her repairman call me with his opinion before I would agree to pay for this repair, That was the end of our conversation other then more threats from her. I did call A-440 Piano Tuning in Palm Harbor and talked to Max, who is a "Certified Piano Repairman" . Max told me that in his professional opinion putting a piano on end is very common and in no way could cause strings to break as this customer claimed " must have happened". I did a search of Florida medical licenses and found that one of her many false claims is that she is an M.D., she is paramedic & physician's assistant. I feel that I went above & beyond in trying to resolve this dispute. (Hide)
In response to the 'rebuttle" remark about my comments. The fact that he said ANYONE told us that they were putting the piano on it's side was totally FALSE. The fact that he said ANYONE told us that they were putting the piano on it's side was totally FALSE. Secondly, his mover (the one who gave him all this information about the piano incident) took the check we wrote to him for a tip of $50.00 and FORGED it and changed it to $250.00. We would have never known that it had been done except our bank account was off by $200.00 and We had to call the sheriff's office and stopped payment on the check. When we called to get the quote I kept telling him that he was off on the hours, truck, and men needed but said "ma'm we do this all the time". The 670. dollars over was only MY part. Total over estimate 980. This company hires criminal forgers, stealers, and liars. I am a PA but most people don't know what that is so I put MD ( I do same job as MD anyway). Does NOT change the facts of what happend. Hired a criminal that told him lies about what really happened and stole from us. (Hide)

(More) `This customer is twisting the facts to make her complaint look like it came from a sane person. #1, They gave my employee a blank signed check that they had written $50.00 in the little box but left the legal line completely blank. This back ground checked employee with no record did change the $50.00 to $250.00 and filled out the blank signed check and cashed it. What this complaintant fails to include is that when I became aware I refunded the amount stolen , fired the employee and gladely coorporated with law enforcement. I find it very telling that this vindictive person feels that the average person is too stupid to know what a P.A. is. She didn't simply put in her original complaint that she was a M.D., She said " I AM AN EMERGENCY ROOM M.D." an out and out lie like the rest of her story. The only mistake I made was not having a crystal ball. I think every average person knows you shouldn't give ANYONE a blank check. George (Hide)
