DIRECTIONS By Land From Washington, D.C. - Take State Route 4 east from the Washington Beltway to State Route 2-4 to Solomons, slight left on Dowell Road. From Baltimore - Take Interstate 97 south from the Baltimore Beltway, to State Route 3 and U.S. Route 301 south to State Route 4. Continue south/east to State Route 2-4 to Solomons, slight left on Dowell Road. You can also take I-97 south to the Aris T. Allen Boulevard exit (Route 665), then follow signs for Solomons Island, Route 2 South. Go south on Route 2, following signs for Prince Frederick. Route 2 will join with Route 4 - make a left from Route 2 onto Route 2-4 south. Follow Route 2-4 south/east to Solomons slight left on Dowell Road. From Richmond - Take U.S. route 301 north into Maryland, then State Route 234 east to State Route 5, south on State Route 5 passing Leonardtown, left on State Route 4 across the Thomas Johnson Bridge (lower Patuxent River Bridge) to State Route 2 at east end of the bridge slight right on Dowell Road. Washburn's Boat Yard was founded by Chris and Eve Washburn in 1988 after they returned from a two-year cruise aboard their Krogen 42. Prior to the cruise Chris owned and operated a boat yard in Annapolis located at the old Trumpy Yacht property. In June of 2010 Luke Frey and Eric Skow became partners. Luke has many years in he boating business, most recently being the Service Manager for Hartges in Galesville,MD. For Eric, this is his second career. He worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY for many years before deciding that his true love was working on boats. He joined Washburn's in 2002 Washburn's is a full service yard staffed with career professionals in all departments. Our technicians have earned certification from the American Boat and Yacht Council, American Boat Builders and Repairers Association, Mercruiser, Volvo, Volvo Penta, Cruisair, Sea Land, Naiad and Northern Lights. We are firm believers in continuing education for our team. Our showroom wall is testimony to our commitment to our team and to delivering consistent quality to our customers. We are located in historic Solomons on Maryland's western shore, mid-way down the Chesapeake. There is a minimum depth of 11' from the Atlantic to our docks. We are a little over an hour's drive from BWI and National Airports and our local St. Mary's airport with a 4150' runway can accommodate most private aircraft. We are located mid-point on the Chesapeake in historic Solomons Maryland on Maryland's western shore. The path to our docks from the Chesapeake Bay is only a few miles unobstructed by bridges with a minimum depth of 11'. We are a full service boat yard with a professional staff holding certifications from ABYC, Naiad, Mercruiser, Volvo, Sea Land, ABBRA, Crusair and Northern Lights among others. We have two marine travelifts. The smaller is a 35 ton unit and the large lift is a new 75 metric ton unit with a 162,000 lb capacity. A 6 ton boom truck is on hand for mast work and engine extraction. Washburn's is a service facility exclusively ... We have no marina, no restaurant and no putting green.
