Pacific Iron & Metal, the first of the Glant Pacific Companies, was founded in Seattle, in 1917 by Jules Glant. From the beginning, he instilled pride, personal and professional integrity. He also recognized very early the wisdom and value of recycling increasingly scarce re-sources in an efficient and economical way for our customers and the general public alike. In addition to metal, Pacific Iron also dealt in waste paper, rubber, and rags. Today, Pacific Iron & Metal operates one of the largest non-ferrous scrap processing plants in the Pacific Northwest and is the only non-ferrous scrap processor in the state of Washington with an approved and operational water treatment system (see our environmental related page). For over three generations, we have anticipated change -- sometimes simple and occasionally dramatic -- but always with an eye to people and the future. The materials we handled in the past have paved the way for the development of other Glant Pacific Divisions -- Pacific Fabrics and Crafts and Pacific Iron's Building Materials. The focus of Pacific Iron & Metal will always remain the same -- recycling the metals of today and tomorrow in the most efficient and environmentally safe manner...whatever the size, shape, composition, or processing requirements. Our participation in planning today (with our customers and with the community) allows us to anticipate your recycling needs for tomorrow and be ready with the equipment and facilities before tomorrow arrives. The initiative taken by employees in every position of the company creates the personal service you so well deserve. Our willingness to listen to new ideas makes us do our best to benefit you and/or your company. The future will always challenge us. We are here to meet that challenge. Pacific Iron & Metal stands ready to serve you by combining the knowledge of three generations with a strategic vision for the future.
