      As a part of town of Schererville in Indiana, the Schererville Police Department is responsible for law enforcement and crime prevention services. It operates through a detective bureau, bicycle unit, and criminal investigations, patrol and K9 divisions. The department works with the general public to minimize, prevent and reduce the opportunity for crime to occur. It maintains a record of various criminal cases related to the invasion of privacy, possession of restricted materials, intimidation and theft. The Schererville Police Department offers education on topics that include child safety and animal control, as well as pet tags that help to identify animals who have escaped from yards and leashes. Additionally, it conducts self-defense classes and the High School Shadow Program, Explorer Program and Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.
