At the National Brain Aneurysm Center, our focus on complex neurovascular conditions gives us experience and expertise that few other hospitals can match.

We treat hundreds of brain aneurysms each year, substantially more than the average neurosurgeon. We perform more surgeries on unruptured brain aneurysms than nearly any other hospital in the nation, and our patient outcomes continue to surpass national benchmarks.

Located at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, we take on the toughest cases and have mastered the most advanced surgical treatments available. In addition to brain aneurysms, we offer advanced surgical and minimally-invasive treatments for other brain-related diseases and injuries, including:
b" Strokes

b" Skull base surgery
b" Blocked blood vessels in the brain

Specializing in neurovascular care means better outcomes for our patients - saving lives and preserving quality of life. Patients and referring physicians from around the country recognize the National Brain Aneurysm Center for excellence in neurovascular surgery.

A leader in neurovascular surgery and care
Brain aneurysm surgery is serious and complex. That is why patients come from all over the United States and abroad to be cared for at the National Brain Aneurysm Center.

Through published research and thousands of successful surgeries, we are an established leader in neurovascular care. We are also one of the The Joint Commission's first nationally certified primary stroke centers in Minnesota.
Along with St. John's Hospital and Woodwinds Health Campus, St. Joseph's Hospital is a part of HealthEast Care System, which was the first health system in the region to have all of their hospitals certified in stroke care by The Joint Commission, considered the highest standard for stroke care accreditation.

Results surpass national benchmarks
Hospitals across the country continue to measure success by their complication and mortality rates. We measure success by how our patients respond to surgery, and more specifically, how they recover over time.

Mortality rates are simple to understand: Does the patient live or die? Complication rates indicate whether a patient suffers a medical setback, for example, temporary loss of sight, trouble speaking or a stroke or heart attack.
Our patient outcomes continue to surpass national benchmarks. Based on the U.S. average, complication rates at hospitals across the country are more than 14% with mortality rates greater than 4% per year, according to the New England Journal of Medicine. Yet at the National Brain Aneurysm Center, average surgical complication rates are 1.6% with in-hospital mortality rates of 0.03%.
