Riverside Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church. What that means is that we participate with nearly 40,000 congregations in the U.S. to support mission work here in Texas, North America and all over the world. Our churchs participation is through three basic levels. Locally through our associational office, through our state convention, and on a national level through the Southern Baptist Cooperative program. 1. The Southern Baptist Cooperative Program is designed so churches can work together financially to evangelize the lost, start new churches, strengthen existing churches, and fund missionary work around the world. A percentage of everything a person gives to our churchs general budget goes to support the cooperative program. This funds 4,200 missionaries in 130 countries, 5,000 mission personnel in the U.S.A., 20,000 students enrolled in Baptist seminaries, 8 Baptist colleges in Texas with 30,000 students, 6 Texas hospital systems, 16 child care ministries with 25,000 children, 137 college campus BSMs, and 300+ new church starts annually. 2. The Southern Baptist of TexasConvention is the arm of the cooperative program that oversees our interests in Texas. By supporting our State convention, in one year we helped contribute $11 million to strengthen and start new churches in Texas, $5.6 million to minister to human needs (food, disaster relief, homeless, etc), $20 million to equip Gods people and develop families through programs offered to the Texas churches, and $43.5 million went to mission and ministry support here in Texas. 3. The Tryon Evergreen Baptist Association is our local association of Baptist churches in our immediate area. The T.E.B.A. office is located just east of Willis on Hwy. 75. This office is just one of 112 associational offices in Texas and ministers to 113 churches in our area.
