One to one mentoring of vulnerable children living in poverty by volunteer Big Brother or Big Sister mentors. Children's perspective is transformed leading to improved educational and social outcomes.Children mentored show improved grades, attitude, sense of the future, relationships with adults and family, and resilience to drugs and alcohol. The volunteer mentors report an enhanced connection to their community, reminder of what is important in life, and fun. 2 Mentoring Programs: Community Based - where the volunteer picks up child from home and spends time in community sharing free or low cost activities together. School Based - where the volunteer goes to designated school for an hour per week to share lunch and recess with the child. At least 12 month expectation for both programs (except for holidays and vacation time.)
