My dog hadn't eaten for a couple of days and then I found blood on the bed this morning.. very listless. Called my Banfield and one other one and neither one could get him in. Have pet insurance there and have taken my dogs to Banfield for years. I called Stonecrest, which is nearby and they said if I could be there in 20 minutes, they could take him. They got him in shortly and gave him some antibiotics. I really appreciated their help and courtesy/

Do not take your dog to Stonecrest Animal Hospital. The staff is abrasive, they don't care about your pets, and they don't put priority over dying/sick pets that need immediate treatment, which could have prevented my dog's death.

Stonecrest had taken care of my 2 dogs for 9 years. One of my dogs got ill suddenly, and I took her in. Stonecrest gave her a ton of injections (4) into her small body and said she would be fine. By the way, they charge outrageous BS fees and extra charges for things liek 'blood collection', 'sample collection' for urinalysis, and you have to pay doctor visit fees just for a check up the next day or a vaccination after they just saw your dog. I paid $630 the day they saw my dog, who died a day later.

The next day, my poor dog started dry heaving and experiencing signs of imbalance and disorientation. I immediately called Stonecrest who informed me, at 11:30am that no 'doctor' would be in at 2pm. However, in spite of the fact that it was an emergency, they told me I could 'wait for an hour' behind 7 other dogs who had check-ups, and not life threatening emergencies.

I was outraged, because they had just seen my dog yesterday and knew the severity of the situation. Almost all animal hospitals have triage's setup to take sick/dying dogs over one's with check-ups. But not Stonecrest. The receptionist, who has always been abrasive, was extremely rude and mocked me and said 'is her tongue purple'? To which, I, at the point said 'no', even though it was getting there, and she dismissed it as non-urgent and was rude on the phone. I had waited a couple of hours to take my dog to Stonecrest versus an ER she had never been too before. However, on my way up to Stonecrest at 1:45, I called them to see if the doctor would checkout my dog first, and again they said not to come and she would not be seen until 3pm.

I took my dog to the ER, she was released a couple hours later and treated for dehydration. I took her home and 30 minutes later she was dead,

My dog should have been given priority not just because of the life and death situation but she had also been seen there since she was born, 9 years ago. Stonecrest failed to setup a triage like 99% of all Animal Hospitals do, and this could have been prevented my dog's death.

The staff at Stonecrest is typically rude (2 out of 3 of the receptionists) and the doctors don't like when you ask a lot of questions when you are concerned, and try to push you out of there asap so they can turn over more appointments. It seemed to me they didn't care about my dog, after 9 years, if they had no urgency to put her before 7 dogs who were there for routine check-ups and non-life threatening emergencies.

It is my opinion that as a result of Stonecrest not treating her immediately, knowing her better than an ER that had never taken her before, along with all of the 4 medications they pumped into her the previous day, contributed to and/or could have prevented my dog's death.

If you want to go to an animal hospital where they care about your pet and put dying dogs in priority, I would suggest you don't go to Stonecrest. The staff is rude, the doctors don't care, and you never see the same doctor, so it's hard for consistency. They constantly change rotations. And, do you really want to go to an animal hospital where a Doctor is gone from 11am-2pm when there are 4 doctors on staff? I would think you want to go to one where there is always a doctor present in case of emergencies.

It is my opinion that the way Stonecrest handled this was unprofessional and contributed to and/or could have prevented my dog's death. I strongly recommend you look at other Animal Hospitals to take your dog to, if you don't want to see similar results.
