Additionally (to my previous review), the spring performance was 2 1/2 hours on the dot for both the afternoon & evening shows, and that is including the 20 min. intermission. The show was highly organized and fun to watch. I have been through many (many) perfomances (personally & with my girls), and this was one of the best when taking everything into consideration (talent, organization, appropriateness, distinct increases in ability as children age, great costumes, length of shows, good song choices, polite audience, no lengthy speeches at the end, no raffles during intermission, etc. Very well done!! More importantly are the lessons at this clean and family oriented studio... high quality, but not of a nature that removes fun from dancing. Classes are kept small (they will cap them) with an extra helper for the younger students, approx. 6-8 boys of different ages dancing at the studio. The studio offers Zumba by certified instructors as well (& for kids too). Great studio!!

I can only disagree 100% with the poor reviewer!! A Step Ahead is the most wonderful dance studio in the Parkville/Perry Hall/White Marsh area. The staff is highly qualified, loving, and talented. The classes are age appropriate, teaching not only superior dance technique, but stage presence as well. Children are taught in a positive, fun, yet structured manor ensuring their confidence. The spring performance was fantastic... very professional, showcasing each teacher's choreography, which was not repetitive! I have been dancing since the age of 9 & am thrilled to have brought my 2 daughters (& myself) to such a fabulous studio. I feel confindent that anyone would feel this was a good choice for their children or themselves. It is more than a dance studio. Check it out for yourself and keep in mind that rehearsals are just that... rehearsals (and it went smoothly; I'm finding it hard to believe that the reviewer above's child was in the same show we were).

I just attended my child's first rehearsal for the end of year dance recital. What a mess!!! Just because tap shoes make noise, doesn't mean it's tap dancing!!! Technique poor, legs not straight/extended and there were a lot of repeated moves. I would ask for my money back if all my child learned to do was march around and look cute. Overall the show was terrible. I was mortified to have my family watch the show. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! VERY POOR QUALITY!!!

My daughter began taking dance lessons at this center last year and is currently enrolled in the current session. She loves her teacher and even says she wants to be a dance teacher when she grows up! I transferred my child from another center after her first year and I couldn't be more satisfied with my decision. Many other centers have the instructors stand on stage with the 3 - 5 year olds, but A Step Ahead does not. The children have to rely on their memory of the routine rather than being spoon fed. While it's not perfect, it allows them to be more independent and want to practice at home on their own time. After all, they work on their routine for nearly 6 months prior to the recital and should know most of it. The costumes are reasonably priced (tasteful for the little ones!) and the monthly tuition is comparable with other centers, but I feel I get much more for my dollar. Very professional staff! It's hard to believe the center is only 3 years old. WE LOVE A STEP AHEAD!

This center offers a variety of classes for all ages, including ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip hop, ballroom, and zumba fitness. Get in shape while having fun. There's no better place! I love this center!
