The "Lights of Love" Campaign, was started through the efforts of volunteer Helen Daniels, Helen presented the idea to the hospital auxiliary as a fund raiser to honor and or memorialize loved ones. Helen & John Daniels had lost their son, John Preston, in 1985. They placed a bulb on the "Lights of Love" tree at their local hospital in Flemington, NJ, in his memory. Then Helen thought, 'Why couldn't there be a sister tree in Tarpon Springs'? So she presented her idea in 1986. It took a year to bring it all together with Mr. & Mrs. W.T. Whitten having a tree dug out of their yard and placed in the front lawn of what was then, Tarpon Springs General Hospital. The dedication of the City of Tarpon Springs and our hospital community has resulted in contributions close to $200,000.00, through this campaign. This past May, a check for $50,000.00, was presented to the Hospital Foundation. This money has been placed in the Hospital "IN-KIND" account with the foundation. These monies can be used to purchase equipment needed in other areas of the hospital. WE CAN DO MORE WITH YOUR HELP ! The "Lights of Love" campaign would appreciate any donations in support of the 22nd Annual Lights of Love Campaign that runs from November 1, 2008 thru January 6, 2009. COME CELEBRATE THE 22ND ANNUAL LIGHTS OF LOVE PROGRAM THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4TH, AT 7:00 PM ON THE HOSPITAL GROUNDS For more information, please call: Joann Bierly, Chairman 727-942-7438
