      The Ottawa Recreation Commission is a part of the Kansas State Statute and is responsible for providing recreational programs for community. It is governed by a five-plus-member policy setting board. The commission provides Little Sluggers, Teachin' Tots and Music Moose programs for children. The Ottawa Recreation Commission organizes various games and sports activities, including volleyball, soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, tennis and softball. It offers Tai Chi and weight loss programs for senior citizens. The commission additionally provides yoga, - tae kwon do chess, aerobics, painting and dancing lessons. The Ottawa Recreation Commission features a swimming club that offers swimming lessons to developmentally disabled adults. It partners with the city of Ottawa, Kan. to administer programs through the usage of its properties. The commission is associated with Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) and Franklin County Children's Coalition.
