Our 14yr old standard poodle Dora unexpectedly suffered what we believe was a stroke this morning at 1:30 a.m. It was a Sunday morning in Rochester and we couldn't find a single emergency vet in the area that was open. Our Dora was suffering so we called Oarchard Park and they immediately told us to come in and to call from the car so we could start our 1hr journey to Buffalo.

I honestly didn't think our Dora would make the one hour journey but she refused to let go even though she couldnt see or hear us and breathing seemed painful. When we arrived the staff met us with a stretcher and immediately began administering pain medication to ease her suffering. The Dr. broke the news we all feared but knew was coming nonetheless. The doctor was never once cold or clinical even though it was now 3am on a Sunday morning. She met us with compassion and allowed us to make choices, even when there was only one choice to make.

They put us in a very comfortable private family room with Dora and gave us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. At that point the doctor walked us through the euthanasia procedure and even told us what to expect so it wouldn't startle us. She was there for us through the entire process.

Dora was with us for 14yrs, and although its an unbearable loss, the staff at Oarchard Park went above and beyond to make it a little more bearable. Not to mention I was surprised at how affordable they were. We chose to have Dora cremated. When the nurse brought the bill I thought it was just for the cremation service, but it was the entire bill including those services. I honestly wish we lived closer so we could make them our pets primary care center. That's how amazing they were.

If they're reading this, Thank you for everything!

I am a kennel owner. OPVMC has been my veterinary clinic of choice since 1968. Without exception, the care my dogs have received there has been stellar. Whether routine care or crisis, my pets and I have benefited from what I consider to be the finest veterinary medical care available.

The absolute best veterinary care in WNY! All the staff from the front office to the doctors are caring and compassionate and very knowledgeable in their profession. My 2 dogs always receive the best medical care and I feel secure leaving them for any tests or procedures.

I'm a long time client. I've worked with other veterinarian groups, and OPVMC is the best for clinical knowledge and care. It is reassuring that the OPVMC veterinarians there will consult with each other and their specialists on staff to get the best medical opinion and care plan for your companion pet. They are especially good for the medical needs of senior dogs, difficult medical problems and emergencies. Yes, you probably pay about 10% more than smaller veterinary practices, but you get the best clinical & veterinary knowledge in WNY.

You get what you pay for. They provided us with excellent service. I was terrified about our senior pug having surgery, but they did a perfect job. The Dr. was wonderful & compassionate. She called me several times & explained everything. will not go anywhere else now for our dogs.

Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center is a first class, top of the line facility. As to the negative review that made mention of calling them for advice regarding emergencies - be thankful they are there to call!! I have lived in other areas where there is no 24 hour emergency service at all. As with all things in life, you get what you pay for. Excellent medical care costs more but can save you plenty in avoiding misdiagnoses and speeding recovery time.

I took my dog to OPVMC, I ended up going through the Better Business Bureau. They claimed my dog was up and "acting like a normal puppy" within 12 hours of admittance, even though we have pictures that were dated and time stamped, showing he was in an incubator with an IV in his leg. In addition they blatently lied about a cost issue. Due to my personal experience, I'd take myself and my pet a favor and take them elsewhere. When you are automatically asked for $1000 down upon entering a place of business, you have to wonder if you're pets best interest is in mind.

Recently my dog was hospitalized for leptospirosis and his kidneys were shutting down. I was so impressed by the attentive and top notch medical care that each and every staff member gave him. Knowing that he was in the best of hands 24 hours/day was so very comforting. Because of their expertise and their genuine love for him he was able to be home for Christmas. In response to the negative review from 12.20: while their prices may seem high, keep in mind that they are open 24 hrs and are there whenever you need them. I have been to other clinics that are not as good and don't offer as much and they charge even more. Think of what it costs to run a fully staffed hospital 24 hrs/day, 365 days/yr. Veterinary hospitals are not government funded. Next time you go to the human emergency room ask to see an itemized bill. You would be shocked at the cost and really glad that you have health insurance. We should be thankful that the WNY area has a vet hospital of this caliber!

My pet was very sick and my regular vet wasn't sure what was wrong with my beloved four pawed baby. She referred me to the Orchard Park Vet for further testing and 24 hour care.Yes, the testing was a little expensive but they offered tests that my vet could not do and then provided care that my vet could not provide. My baby had a blood transfusion and stayed in the hospital for a few days where I could visit and watch how hard the staff worked to keep my pet comfortable as well as the other patients. My baby was treated so well! The vets explained to me what the plan was for treatment, the costs involved with the care and kept me updated daily with the progress.I am happy to say that my baby was home for Christmas! She may not have been with out the quick thinking of my vet to send me to the Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center. And definitely without the care of the wonderful staff at the Orchard Park Vetererinary Medical Center!

They are scam artists and they can be because they are the only ones around 24/7 that take "emergencies." If you just call for advise they will say to bring the animal in that it appears to be an "emergency". They charge outragous amounts just to have the animal seen. Pray that you have the money or they will take away the meds,or worse even your animal if you dont. It should be a crime how they operate business. Their primary focus is on how much they can make rather than whats best for your animal. They have have an amazing brand new building with beautiful light fixtures though!
