      Located in Onamia, Minn., Mille Lacs Academy is a community-based, residential treatment center that specializes in the treatment of youth and adolescents who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviors. It is a licensed facility for delinquent children and youth by the state of Minnesota and Department of Corrections. The academy offers various on-site educational services with a variety of treatment programs, including early adolescent, Specialized Developmentally Cognitively Challenged program for adolescents. Its adolescent program offers family and sexuality therapies, education and chemical health counseling. The academy also provides a more than five-bed group home for adolescent males 13 to 17 years of age. Mille Lacs Academy is a part of Nexus, a national nonprofit organization that designs and operates treatment programs for various child and adolescent problems and is approved by the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services.
