Service Department & Customer Service Experience

I recently needed to pick up a rope that was left in a boat that Petersen was servicing. I did so and accidentally left my Persol sunglasses ($250) in the boat. The only reason I know that is because Mike (the service manager) told my Dad that was the case when they made arrangements to pick the boat up the next day. Fact #1-Sunglasses are in the boat at Petersen Marine. I met my Dad at Petersen to pick up the boat (and my sunglasses) the following day. We searched the boat and found no sunglasses. We then came inside and inquired thinking maybe they were placed somewhere else. Elyse was helping us inside and was very friendly and even called Mike while he was out to see if they were placed somewhere else. Mike told her they were left in the boat. We then went back out and searched boat again...nothing. Fact #2-Sunglasses missing. I left my name and number and asked if they would ask around and I would check back next week. I called back and spoke with Mike. He got very slippery and said he had no idea where they were and that he "knows" that none of his guys had any reason to take them. I questioned him as to how he "knows." After all the glasses, as per his own words, were in the boat under their care just the day before we picked up the boat. I mentioned that there were other expensive items in the boat that went untouched. I don't know what happened. What I do know is that the glasses were there and under their watch and they disappeared overnight. Mike was VERY unprofessional with me accusing me of making up this story, (and said that the glasses were probably on my dash) and that I was just trying to get money out of them. I have never been spoken to as a customer the way Mike spoke to me. As a long time business owner I have never spoken to a customer this way. He was extremely unprofessional. I was just looking for someone to step up to the plate and take some responsibility. Instead, Mike chose to question my integrity. It's not even about the money. I can go buy a new pair of sunglasses. But it is the principle. I will NEVER go back! If you chose to go there make sure not to leave anything in your boat-it just may walk away.

Horrible Experience

I would definitely discourage anyone from doing business here. I live in Denver and had a number of discussions with Rob the salesmen about a boat that I wanted to buy. After long consideration and a number of pictures I decided to put a deposit down and drive 600 miles one way to go pick it up. This was based on the following conversation:Question: Can you tell me about the condition of the upholstery and hull? Answer: The thing looks like it has just come off the showroom. This statement would lead you to believe that further investigation is probably not necessary on the cosmetics. You would be mistaken. There was a total of 12 rips in the upholstery, the longest being 16 inches. Needless to say I wasted 1200 miles of driving and a weekend. IF you decide to do business here, I would recommend going well above and beyond what you think should be reasonable fact checking. Good luck.

Great Experience

My experience has been excellent dealing with the folks at Petersen Marine. They got me into a nice bayliner even though I am credit impaired. The sales man "Robb" was excellent helping me get into a boat that works GREAT for my family. I will definately buy my next boat from these guys.

I Will never ever deal with this company again, first of all they royally take advantage of people, customers and even their own family members. When a company does work for them, they make them come back like 50 times to redo the work that was already done. They expect work to be done for free. They treat people like dirt....DONT SHOP HERE.... go somewhere else and save yourself the headache.
