I bought an adorable Cockapoo 1 year ago. We wanted to buy from a pet store so we would know the breed of our puppy. We paid $1700 for our Cockapoo. She didn't look like the "Cockapoo" we read up on. The associate assured us that she was absolutely a Cockapoo, that she just resembled more of the Cocker Spaniel. She also assured us that she would be hypo-allergenic as the desired breed is. 9 months later we were having some behavioral challenges with the our pup. She is aggressive and anxious. Unlike the breed we thought we were buying. We decided to do a DNA test, the blood test from the vet, the most reliable DNA test. Our Cockapoo is not a Cockapoo. She is a Cocker Spaniel / Great Dane mixed with a Dachshund / mix breed most resembling a pekingese. She has absolutely no recognizable poodle DNA markers. She is without a doubt not a cockapoo.

I got my dog from Puppies of Westport five years ago and never wrote them to tell them how thrilled I am with my puppy. But after reading that the CT legislature is actually considering a ban on all puppy stores, I felt I had to speak up. How dare any elected official tell me where I can get the dog of my choice. I am not suggesting that people not check out a shelter or rescue, but for me, my puppy was the best decision I could have made. My dog has been healthy, loving, fun and a terrific member of my family. I dont want to be forced to find my next puppy on the internet or from some other underground source. Whatever happened to this being a free country????

I had heard all the warnings from the animal activists about how horrible it was for anyone to buy a puppy from a pet store. Well, I am not one to be swayed by those who take extreme positions and seek to force everyone else to follow them. I purchased a wonderful puppy from Puppies of Westport and the entire experience was spectacular. From great advice on what breed to buy, to superb direction on housebreaking and training, to giving me their cell numbers (which I may have overused a bit) for any questions that might arise- they have been great. If you are considering purchasing a puppy, you would be making a huge mistake if you didnt head right for Puppies of Westport.

I decided that this was the time for me to check them out. I found that they were more like a breeder than a pet store. They obviously care a great deal about their puppies as well as their customers. It turned out that the owner had trecently lost her 9 year old Vizsla to cancer and we ended sharing a good cry- we were quite a sight! A small group of misguided activists have been carrying on a malicious campaign against this store that began before they even opened five years ago- they apparently have nothing better to do. The posting below from Scott M. is a perfect example of the tactics of these radicals. I called Puppies of Westport to ask if they had purchased dogs from the breeder he referred to. Turns out they got just two dogs from Robert Laurance after getting false information about his kennel. They investigate every breeder and follow up on all information and in this case, they checked on him and immediately severed all ties. Luckily, both puppies were healthy, but they said they were prepared to do anything necessary for them and acknowledge their error. THAT WAS FOUR YEARS AGO! Ive been in puppies of westport many times and i know that all of the animals are well taken care of. the crates are kept spotless by a large crew of people and well exercised. in the morning all of the dogs are let out to play with eachother and i see throughout the day the staff walking the dogs outside of the store.

Monty and Lauren dedicate their lives to taking care of these dogs. they take better care of the dogs in the store than half the people treat their dogs at home. there not a normal pet store every dog is out of their cage getting excersise numerous times a day and Marta works so hard to make sure their health is up to date along with south Wilton vet clinic who works side by side with Monty and Lauren. i myself have seen them come in at six am on Christmas just to make a child's dream come true. two innocent people who dedicate their lives to loving these sweet puppies.

Puppies of Westport is the best! I had visited at least 6 other pet stores before visiting them and I could not believe how different this store was. I had also visited a few professional breeders and the experience felt like I was trying to get my daughter into some exclusive private school! I don t live that close but it was more than worth the trip. They had a great selection of happy and well adjusted puppies and answered every question I had. They know a lot about puppies and were very helpful in explaining the pros and cons of different breeds for meand my family. My daughter loves this place and she has actually made me take her back just to visit this store, the employees and the new puppies. It is so sad that there are people who try to smear this store when a quick look at all of the negative comments reveal that none of these people bought a puppy here and most never even set foot in the store! My daughter keeps trying to convince me to get a friend for her puppy and when I finally cave in there is absolutely no other place that I will go. Visit them and you will see it for yourself.

I bought a morkie (Maltese Yorkie)from Puppies of Westport 8 months ago and she has been the best addition to my family. She was extremely healthy and is the sweetest, cutest puppy out there. The staff at Puppies of Westport was so helpful and kind and has been there when i have had any questions at all. I would definitely recommend puppies of Westport to anyone who was looking for a dog. The staff is so knowledgeable and will only sell you the right dog for you and your family.

Knowing the owners here makes it an easy decision to seek out our family pet from this store. Picketers don't bother us, and actually, I hope they continue as they are revealing the stupidity of their radical agenda. I've done my own research on animal rights people and so should everyone else, because they are wanting everyone to believe that ALL pet stores are bad. That way, they can continue to bring disease ridden dogs from other countries and adopt them out. When is the last time you saw hundreds of dogs roaming the streets of NY or CT? I haven't seen many, so where are all of these so-called 100's coming from? TAIWAN! They are flying them over here claiming there from the U.S. Meanwhile, our pets here are subjected to strains of Parvo and other deadly viruses that we have NO vaccines for! Wake up America!
