Hometown began in 1965 when our founder, Paul Garber, established what was then called the New Paris Oil Company. New Paris Oil served families, business, and farms with heating oil and motor fuels. At that time New Paris Oil operated out of five divisions which consisted of petroleum sales and services, HVAC, and electrical services. By 1970, we began offering propane delivery to our customers.Four years later the Garber family introduced Marcus Brubaker as a trusted partner in New Paris Oil Company. Over the next few years, we experienced steady growth of staff and customers, expanding into multiple counties throughout Ohio and Indiana. In 1986 Gary Garber succeeded his father in the energy fuels and propane business. And, in an effort to serve our customers more efficiently, Gary merged his electrical contracting business with New Paris Oil.With our growing service area, we decided to change our business name to better reflect all the areas we served, including and surrounding New Paris, OH. Together with the help of our customers, we chose the name Hometown in August 2006. The new name represented all that we stood for over the years that we are your hometown provider with hometown values and service. In September 2009, Marcus and Gary decided to separate and create two individual family owned businesses that each of their own children could continue to run after their retirement. Gary is now owner of Garber Electric, while Marcus is carrying on the Hometown tradition.Together with his family, Marcus and the Hometown team continue to provide fuel oil, propane, motor fuels, and a full line of equipment services to homes, farms and businesses while offering the same tradition of superb customer service and competitive pricing established by their founders.
